What I charge to work on your website
Here are my hourly rates for building and maintaining websites in the culture and community sector.
I like to keep things simple when I work with people, and that starts with my pricing.
If you work with me to improve or maintain your existing website, or to build a new one, what you'll pay falls into one of three categories. I call them Green time, Amber time, and Red time.

Green time
If we're building something new together – like a new site or a new feature on an existing one – or I'm doing some design or planning work, you'll pay my base rate of £40 per hour. This also includes normal day-to-day stuff that doesn't impact your site's uptime.
Amber time
This is at the core of my Uptime service. This is work directly related to keeping your site running smoothly: managing capacity, keeping the CMS patched and updated, performing regular health checks and generally meeting the SLA you bind me to. I charge £80 per hour for this work.
Red time
If something goes horribly wrong or there's a last-minute change that absolutely has to be done today – or you have an unexpected run on ticket sales – my highest hourly rate of £160 is reserved for critical action, or stuff that needs taking care of outside of before 9am or after 6pm.
Sound good?
